Indeed, it is true that GENIUS and the best of individuals
die early, even at age 80; it will be tagged to be early. Just like yesterday,
early morning of 18th November 2009, seven years ago, it was a black Monday for
Lagosians that heard the sad News over the RADIO, Radio Lagos specifically
that our amiable, affectionate,
compassionate, larger hearted Oba Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi Kusenla 11 the 20th
Elegushi of Ikate-Land had passed on! Aged 69, It was unimaginable for a lot us
who benefited immensely from his unrivalled generosity.
Nothing was ever too big for Kabiyesi Oba Yekini Elegushi to
give any one, no amount was ever too much for him to part with. Beneficiaries
of His Majesty’s length of kindness are scattered all over the world including
me. He gave hope; he shared happiness and tranquility, most of all he gave free
shelter to the homeless like a gigantic IROKO TREE that he truly represented in
Eti-Osa and the entire AWORI land
HRM Late Oba Yekini Elegushi was a true representation of Lagos
ancestral culture and tradition; he popularized the famous ELEGBA FESTIVAL in Africa
with his yearly media blast.
Highly principled and dogged Oba Yekini Elegushi together
with his like minds influenced the construction of Lekki-Epe Expressway amongst
other developmental growth that has distinguished ETI-OSA as a community with
great economic potentials in Africa
An ENIGMA, an unforgettable ICON, a PHILANTROPIST whose
immense contribution towards Religion, Education, Culture & Tradition in Lagos
State Nigeria
shall never be forgotten.
Adieu! HRM Kabiyesi Oba Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi. Kusenla 11,
the 20th Elegushi of Ikate-Land. Do continue to rest in the bosom of
the Lord. We miss you everyday!!!
