L-R: National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; Senate President, Bukola Saraki and President Muhammadu Buhari |
The
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Sunday felicitated with
Muslims in the country as they celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival,
urging them to pray for peace and quick recovery of the country’s
economy.
The
member of the Senate representing Lagos-West Senatorial District,
Senator Solomon Adeola, also enjoined all Muslim faithful and all
Nigerians “to continue to persevere and pray for peace and progress as
the nation is facing a tough economic climate due to recession”.
Saraki,
in his Sallah message signed by his Special Adviser on Media
and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, urged Nigerians to remain
steadfast and committed to the cause of one, united and developed
country.
He
noted that despite the current economic challenges, the country and its
people had all that was required to come out better and stronger.
Saraki
said, “Truly, times are tough but we are a tough people too. Therefore,
I have no doubt that we shall overcome our present economic setback
sooner than anticipated, if we all commit to the ideals of nation
building.
“I
also enjoin every one of us to contribute in strengthening the bond of
unity and oneness that exists among us. This, I believe, will spur us to
avoid negative tendencies that could derail our efforts at ensuring
faster economic revival and socio-political stability.”
Adeola
was quoted in a statement by his Media Adviser, Kayode Odunaro, as
saying the present economic downturn was “a passing phase that will soon
be over with correct government policies and people’s cooperation with
government”.
