Governor Bindow Jibrila of Adamawa State
Gov. Muhammadu Bindow of Adanawa has told members of the Igbo community residing in Adamawa of to feel free and carry out their normal business activity as they are at home.
Bindow gave the assurance during an emergency meeting held with heads of security formations in the state and leaders of Igbo community on Friday in Yola.
” Adamawa people are peace loving citizens, what is going on in the South East is not in the interest of the good people of the region.
“Therefore, I am calling all South East citizens especially Igbos residing in all parts of Adamawa to feel free and continue with their normal business activities as they are safe and at home.” Bindow said.
He assured that the state government would use all apparatus at its disposal to protect the lives and property of people of the state irrespective of their tribe or religion .
He appealed to the people of the state to distance themselves from rumours of skirmishes between northerners and their hosts in the Southeast, adding that Nigeria needed peace and stability for sustainable development.
In his remarks, the President General of Igbo Cultural Association in Adamawa, Chief Obonna Ibere, condemned the current unrest in some states of South east.
“Anybody found guilty of committing crimes against the nation should be treated as an individual.
“The issue of IPOB is being used by some disgruntled elements to blow the situation out of proportion,’’ Ibere said.
