Although, it is true that COVID-19 can infect anyone irrespective of their age, a younger person has a better chance of surviving COVID-19 than an older person.

This is so because, old age is one of the major risk factors of developing serious health complications (morbidity) from COVID-19.
Two major things happens to your body when you are getting older :

1. The functionality of the organs in your body (such as your liver, heart, kidney, lungs etc) begins to reduce, which predisposes you to certain health conditions.

2. The strength of your immune system begins to reduce as well, which is why you might become more prone to certain diseases and infections.

These factors makes older people more predisposed to developing serious health complications after contracting COVID-19.

Hence, if you are 55years and above, it is important for you to take this information very seriously. Also, if you are younger (not up to 55years), it is your responsibility protect your older parents, relatives and yourself. Because, if you get infected, there is a high chance of you transferring the virus to your older parents, especially if they live with you or you visit them often.

PLEASE NOTE: Young people are not immune to COVID-19. Everyone single human on earth can get infected by the virus, however, because of the aforementioned reasons above, COVID-19 is more dangerous to the older generation than it is to the younger generation.

If you are above 55years don't go to these places, to protect yourself:

1. MARKET: This is one of the most crowded places in the society. If you are above 55years of age, it is advisable not to visit this place at all because there is a higher chance of you contracting the virus in the market.

For example, in a place like Onitsha market, where millions of people visit on a daily basis, there is a high chance of you coming in contact with an infected person, because of the high human to human contact that happens there.

2. CHURCHES AND MOSQUES: currently, attending services in some churches and mosque is relatively safe, because of the necessary safety measures that have been implemented to curb the spread of the virus in those churches.

However, just like the Bible clearly instructs, we must follow the orders from our government and health officials faithfully.

They have advised all elderly persons (55years and above) to remain at home, despite lifting the ban initially placed on churches and Mosques.

3. PARTIES: It is painful to discover that despite the fact that the government has ban all social gatherings such as birthday parties, wedding ceremonies, night club parties and the likes, many Nigerians still choose to deliberately flaunt these orders to endanger the lives of innocent people.

Hence, while our law enforcement agents are working hard to track down and apprehend these defaulters, please ensure that you desist from attending such ceremonies.\

4. ANY PUBLIC OR SOCIAL GATHERING WITH MORE THAN 20 PERSONS.
The truth is that, we can overcome COVID-19 if we all work together by observing all the necessary measures for preventing its spread.

The truth is that, most of these claims are baseless with no real facts to support them. Hence, Instead of endangering your life before discovering that COVID-19 is as real as they say it is, it is better to act wisely by protecting your life first. After all, what do you have to loose by protecting yourself? When you have everything to gain by staying safe and health.

Please protect yourself and stay safe.
