A 13 year old boy, identified as Odunayo Sunday has escaped miraculously from the den of kidnappers and ritualists in Ado Ekiti. The victim who was seized in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital was later found in Ondo State,a neighbouring state, after a miraculous escape.
Narrating his ordeal, Sunday said God’s intervention led to a sharp disagreement between the suspected ritualists as they could not reach compromise on him and he was later left of the hook.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at Moferere area of Ado Ekiti when the victim was hawking vegetable as two men inside a Sport Utility Vehicle beckoned on him pretending to buy the product from him.
Sources at the area explained that the unknown men bought vegetable worth N100 and gave the boy N1000 note expecting a balance of N900.
The teenager looked for balance around without success after which the men gestured to him to come. He was invited to move nearer and the vehicle sped off thereafter leaving bystanders shocked.
Speaking on his two-day ordeal in the hands of his abductors, Sunday said he never knew such a fate could befall him as he never suspected them of having such intention against him.
Sunday said: “They took me to a place I don’t know inside a very thick bush where their gang members were also waiting but a disagreement erupted among them.
“I was very much afraid and I was praying inside of me that God should save me from being killed by strange people. God answered my prayer and they ordered me to leave; I ran as far as my leg could carry me before reaching the main road.
“I had to beg a commercial driver after I narrated my ordeal to him and he took me to Ado Ekiti free of charge. It was God that saved me because I was afraid that they would kill me.”
Sunday’s guardian, Mrs. Rachel Balogun, who trades in farm produce explained that she travelled ut of Ado Ekiti when the incident ocurred.
She said: “I travelled to our hometown when the incient happened and I was sad and shocked by the story of his abduction but we thank God that he is back, hale and hearty.
“It was God that saved Odun from wicked people and I thank God that his head rebelled against those wo want to use him for sacrifice.”
Meanwhile, the Vicar of the Church of Resurrection (Anglican Communion),Ado-Ekiti Rev. Olufemi Adebule, has appealed to parents and guardians to be watchful as kidnappers and ritualists are on prowl in the state .
His advice came against the backdrop of rituals and kidnapping activities which seem to have been on the rise in the state. The cleric called on security agencies to intensify efforts to enhance security and curb the activities of criminals. The boy was found by a Good Samaritan at Ugbe Akoko in Akoko Northeast
Local Government Area of Ondo State from where he made his way back home to the waiting arms of his guardian and neighbours.
It would be recalled that in 2011, Ranti Opeloye ,a student of All Soul’s Anglican Grammar School, Ado Ekiti, was seized in a similar circumstance from where she had gone to buy vegetable at Basiri area of the state . They took her to an unknown destination, after being charmed.
Apparently rejected by the oracle in the forest where she was taken to, the young girl was later dumped at a remote area in Ado Ekiti the following week after spending four days with her abductors.
